10 Foods NOT TO FEED Toddlers!
As my husband usually prefer buying ANHAAR milk (low fat-the one in red color). My baby gets attracted to the bottle and always asks for this, indicating his finger towards it ! I have a habit of reading before I give anything to my baby as he is too young to eat everything ! He was being stubborn so I thought of reading whether its fine to give him. But it was NOT! Then i took out the list of things not safe for him to eat! I felt like sharing to my lovely readers who are mothers too so after a proper research I came out with a list, it is as follows !! Hope you are not feeding your baby anything that needs to be avoided !
- Low Fat Food.
Dietry products for baby can harm his health. As the brain and body needs proper intake of fats, vitamins and minerals for development. And first 2 years are very much critical ! First decide whether to breastfeed your baby or give him formula milk then start giving him bit of everything (every food prepared at home) when he is 6 months, purpose being sharpening his taste buds. Never even imagine to give your baby skim milk even you are feeling him getting bulky or over weight. He needs calories and proper fat at this stage.
2. Raw eggs.
Undercooked eggs can prove harmful as it contains Salmonella bacteria in it! So all those foods, containing raw eggs in them are not safe for babies like:
- Home made Mayonnaise
- Cake batter
When egg is properly boiled, bacteria gets killed. Also eggs with damaged shalls should not be given to babies in any case.
I have seen mothers giving raw eggs in milk to their babies for strengtheing them up! But this is totally wrong. This trick is for body builders not for babies ! Babies are just too small to handle this inside their stomach.
There was a time when honey was considered the first and foremost thing to give to babies when they come on earth. Now doctors clearly forbid this.
Reason Why ?
Honey contains bacteria that give birth to toxins in a baby’s intestine. Not recommended before 1 year of age by child specialists.
Anything which is bigger in size can stuck in baby’s throat. So if properly crushed or grounded, can be given after the baby reaches 6 months of age.
6. Processed food.
Nowadays there is a trend going on to give your kids nuggets and half cooked meals that come in packaging. They can cause severe danger to your baby’s health and behavioural development. Also can cause problems for his kidney!
7. Soda and Cola.
Cola absorbs all the calcium from body. It is a mixture of sugar and sweetening flavours and nothing more so try your best not to give him soft drinks because once he is addicted to it, he is never going to leave it ! Strictly not advisable ! It can be very harsh for baby’s immature digestive system plus it causes tooth decay.
8. Junk food.
As it is very hard to stop baby from eating junk when peers and family kids are having it. The best tip is to give him options of two healthy snacks. Junk food is low nutrient and never should be the part of your baby’s diet.
9. Canned fruits.
Anything that is processed should not be given to babies. There are certain preservatives to keep those fruits fine for months and months. Baby’s stomach can get upset with this. Try to give original form of food rather refined!
10. Raw vegetables.
Rather than giving your baby a piece of carrot or lettuce, try to give him cooked potatoes, peas and cooked squashes. Raw veggies contain so high nitrates that it is difficult for your baby’s stomach to process.
